Terms of Use

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using the Game, you agree to these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Game.

If you use the Game for an organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these terms for that organization. If you are under the legal age to enter a binding agreement where you live, use the Game only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.

2. The Game

“Salpakan Tactics” (the “Game”) is an independent digital adaptation of the traditional Filipino board game commonly known as Game of the Generals, or Salpakan. It provides a browser-based strategy board with solo play against a local computer opponent and same-device pass-and-play. It does not currently provide online matchmaking, user accounts, purchases, cash prizes, betting, or real-money gambling.

Game rules, computer behavior, presentation, and features may be adjusted as the software develops. This implementation is not an official rules authority, tournament service, or promise of compatibility with every physical or digital edition.

3. Limited permission to use

Subject to these terms and any license supplied with the source or build, the operator grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to run the Game for personal, non-commercial entertainment.

No permission is granted to sell access, remove legal or attribution notices, claim the Game as your own work, use its assets to train a model without authorization, or create a competing commercial product from protected portions of this build. Rights expressly granted by an applicable open-source license remain governed by that license.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the Game in violation of applicable law or another person’s rights;
• introduce malware, harmful code, automated abuse, or attempts to disrupt a hosted copy;
• bypass access controls or probe systems, networks, or accounts you do not own or have permission to test;
• misrepresent your affiliation with the operator or any third-party rights holder;
• use the Game to facilitate wagering, unlawful contests, harassment, or fraud.

5. Local saves and device access

The Game may store an unfinished match in your browser’s local storage. You are responsible for access to your device and browser profile. Clearing browser data, changing profiles, storage restrictions, software updates, or device failure may erase the saved match. We are not required to recover local game data.

6. Intellectual property

The software, interface, original graphics, text, and other original content in this build are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws and licenses. Babylon.js, fonts, and other third-party components remain the property of their respective owners and are used under their applicable terms.

Names, marks, game concepts, and other materials associated with third parties remain with their respective owners. Unless expressly stated, this implementation is not sponsored, endorsed, or operated by a third-party rights holder.

Game name and independence

“Game of the Generals” and “Salpakan” are the common names of the traditional Filipino board game, credited to Sofronio H. Pasola Jr. and first played in 1970. Those names appear here only to describe, truthfully and no more than is necessary, which game this software plays. They are not used as the brand of this application, and no claim of ownership over them is made.

Salpakan Tactics is an independent implementation. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, licensed by, or connected to the originator of the physical game, any publisher or distributor of it, or the maker of any other digital edition. Any trademarks or registered trademarks referred to remain the property of their respective owners.

The rules and mechanics of a board game are not themselves protected by copyright. The rules text, interface copy, artwork, three-dimensional models, sound, and source code in this build were authored independently for this application and are not reproduced from any other edition.

7. Feedback

If you voluntarily provide ideas, bug reports, or suggestions, you permit the operator to use them to evaluate and improve the Game without an obligation to compensate you. This does not transfer ownership of materials you already owned before providing the feedback.

8. Third-party services and links

The Game may load resources from or link to services operated by others, including Google Fonts and a website host. Those services have their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services, content, availability, or data practices.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Game is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability, accuracy, or freedom from defects. We do not promise that all rule interpretations, AI decisions, saves, rendering, or device behavior will be error-free.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so portions of this section may not apply to you. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator and contributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, goodwill, or opportunities arising from use of or inability to use the Game.

Where liability cannot be excluded, total liability relating to the Game will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid specifically for the Game during the twelve months before the claim or US $10. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

11. Suspension and termination

Your permission to use the Game ends if you materially violate these terms. A hosted version may be changed, suspended, or discontinued, temporarily or permanently, including for maintenance, security, legal, or operational reasons.

12. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms as the Game changes. The current version will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued use after revised terms take effect constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.

13. General terms

If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will continue. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer your obligations under these terms without permission from the operator.

Applicable law and venue depend on the location and identity of the operator distributing your copy. Mandatory rights and protections available where you live are not displaced by these terms.
